Edward Dewey Davis was born on January 12th, 1948 to the late Rufus Ulmer Davis and the late E. Magdeline G. Davis in Hemingway, South Carolina. He began his Christian training in Bethlehem A.M.E. Church. These experiences provided guidance in building a positive and humble life. Edward D. Davis, also lovingly known by Dewey, graduated from Chavis High School where he participated in activities which gave opportunities to develop leadership skills and traits for the future. He then attended South Carolina State University, where he began his courtship with Jacqueline Hughes. He graduated with a degree in Professional Biology. Following college, E. Dewey continued his education by receiving his Certification as a Medical Technologist from Rutgers University, while working for the East Orange New Jersey Health Department and Pathology Lab. With a continuous thirst for knowledge, Edward proudly joined the U.S. Army as a Commissioned Field Artillery Officer. He served through all levels of Staff and Command throughout the United States, Europe and South Korea. After years of service and receiving multiple Service Medals, he retired honorably from the U.S. Army as Captain at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Upon his exit, he began working as a Senior Sales Associate with Metropolitan Life and affiliated companies. As he continued to embrace his upbringing in Christ and leadership knowledge, Ed remained an active member of Evans Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church for over 39 years. He served in the following capacities: Member of the Board of Stewards, Member of the Christian Education Department, Coordinator & Scout Master, Assistant Scout Leader of Scouts at Simon Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, Member of Parent Body #2, Missionary Society (Life Member), Evans Lay Council Member, President of the Lay Council (Life Member), Evans Metropolitan Choir, the Walter B.
