Mr Gillispie Scott Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gillespie Joseph Scott, 83, a resident of Fayetteville N.C. passed away on Saturday July 2, 2022. He was a proud Vietnam War veteran serving in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Infantry Division. He received several awards one of which was the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces in the Republic of Vietnam during the period of July 1965 - June 1966. After retiring from the military on March 31, 1979, Mr. Scott worked for NVT Technologies Incorporation, Research Triangle Park, Durham, NC as an Operations and Maintenance Engineer over 20 years where he received several awards and accolades during his tenure. This job required him to travel over 90 minutes one way each day to provide for his family. Although this required long hours and stressful days, he always came home with a big hug, a smile and ready to tackle anything on Judy’s honey do list! Daddy is preceded in death by his father William G. Scott, mother Helen Scott, loving wife Julia (Judy) Scott, daughter Machele Laverne Scott, son Jimmy Jay Lanaux, and brothers Donald, Everett (Butch) Thomas and Andre Scott. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his daughters Paquita Jennings and Brenda Lanaux Stevens, brothers Micheal, Paul, Gerald, Winslow (Danny) Scott, sisters Paulette, Joyce and Angelyce Mary Scott, grandchildren Ryan Lanaux, Larry (Trey) Stevens III, and Brendan Stevens and a host of family and friends.
