Mrs. Helen McLean Crawford was born to the Late Lee McLean, Sr. and Vicie McLean on September 19, 1949 in Lumberton, North Carolina. With Gods infinite wisdom, He took his servant to his Kingdom in Glory, she exchanged her earthly life for life eternal January 28, 2021 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She received her education through the Public Schools of Robeson County, North Carolina where she found the love for basketball and played well. She was a Loving, Sweet, Kind person who showed compassion to everyone that entered her life. She further her education in childcare at Fayetteville Technical Community College, where she became the Lead Teacher at Childcare Network for over 15 years. At an early age she was taught the gospel by her sweet mother, she took heed to the word and kept it close to her heart. She was a bold believer in Christ and always preached his word at anytime, anywhere. During her years in ministry, she was very dedicated, she served on the Usher Board, Mothers Board, Women’s Choir and Ministerial Staff. She was also the Youth Choir Director, where she is known for teaching one of her favorite songs, “Pass Me Not”. She was a faithful Women of God and raised her family in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Helen Crawford was known for family. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren tremendously. She never missed a track meet, band concert, graduation, football and basketball games, dance ministry and so much more. She always supported them, she traveled far and wide to encourage them, love on them, and pray with them. She would quote her favorite scripture and tell them to repeat, “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.” Helen M. Crawford was preceded in death by her beloved Husband Willie A Crawford, her sister Viola Smith, and brother John Robert Smith. She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughters, Cheryl Maddison (Anthony) of Fayetteville NC, Hope Massengale of Fayetteville NC, Arlivia Blackwell (Fred) of Spring Lake, NC, Roberta France of Hope Mills, NC, and her son, John R. Holifield of Los Angeles, CA; mother-in-law, Mrs. Lela Crawford; stepchildren, Nicole Crawford (Tony) of Fayetteville NC, Gail Crawford of Lumberton, NC; her sisters, Mary Baldwin of Lumberton, NC, Dovie Bass of Greensboro, NC, Bertha Belo of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Sally Dockery (Prentis) of Columbia, SC; her brothers, Lee McLean, Jr. (Blanch) of Washington, DC, Lawrence McLean (Sabra) of Greensboro, NC, James Lee McLean (Marsha) of Washington, DC; 8 grandchildren, Arroney Duncan (Wil), Joshua Holifield, Ambria Holifield, Demetrius Blackwell, Alexia Massengale, Zola Holifield, Serenity Watson, Sarah France; 5 great grands, Aniyah, Alicia, Aaliyah, Amia, Ayden Holifield; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
