    Ms. Helen H. Reid

    May 18, 1937 - December 3, 2021

Helen Beatrice Hunter-Reid was born May 18, 1937 to James N. and Hattie Beatrice Hunter in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and entered eternal rest on December 3, 2021. She graduated from Nash County Training School, Nashville, North Carolina and continued her formal education first at North Carolina A & T and then at Monmouth University in Long Branch, New Jersey where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in English (Grades 7-12). As a graduate of Monmouth University, she was hired for a teaching position at Freehold High School where she taught the Exceptional and English as a Second Language students. She left Freehold High School in 1980 and moved back to Rocky Mount North Carolina to help care for her ailing mother. While in Rocky Mount, she began working as a substitute teacher for the Edgecombe County school district before receiving a job in Tarboro, North Carolina for the Department of Social Services for more than 10 years. Helen was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Rocky Mount, North Carolina (childhood), Salem Baptist Church, Long Branch, New Jersey, and Hull Road Baptist Church, Kinston, North Carolina. She was an honorary member of Kingdom Impact Global Ministries during the times her daughter was deployed. She was an awesome mother and not just to her children, but to all children that crossed her path. She loved having sleep overs for the church kids and friends of the family. She was known to many as Mom, Mommy, Ma, Miss Helen, Ma Tracey, Miss Tracey, Ma Helen, Cousin Helen and Helle Belle. She loved everyone and commanded that same love in return. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, William Reid, her mother and father, and her son, Everett Parker. She is survived by her two daughters, Bari L. White and Angela M. Young, two sons Richard Parker and Whitny Williams (Robin), one uncle, John Wilson (Diane), one Aunt, Irene Thorpe (Barry) and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and friends.
