Matylene Jordan Franklin, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and longtime resident of Fayetteville, NC, died unexpectedly on December 26, 2021 at the age of 79. Matylene is survived by her husband, Charles L. Franklin; their children, Susan C. Franklin, Carl L. Franklin, Belinda M. Johnson (Jamlain) and Timothy A. Franklin (Roxanne); her grandchildren; Tamra Franklin-Crank (Jayson), Anthony J. Franklin, Aries R. Lopez (Deeanna), and Timothy E. Franklin; her great-grandchildren Makena Crank and Dannelle Lopez; her sisters, Shirley Dalton, Johnnie Lou Dalton, Jocelyn Jordan and Barbara Golden; her brothers Willie Lee Jordan, Tommy Jordan Sr., Bobby Jordan and Charles C. Jordan. She is predeceased by her sister, Patricia Althea Jordan; her brother, John Henry Jordan Jr.; and her parents, John H. Jordan and Susie L. Cliffe. Matylene was born in Franklin, TN on December 15, 1942 to John Henry Jordan and Susie Lee Cliffe. She graduated from Franklin Training High School in Williamson County, TN and attended college in Nashville until she met her soon-to-be husband, Charles Franklin, whom she wed on April 7, 1964. They went on to welcome four children during numerous moves with the U.S. Army, finally settling in Fayetteville, NC. Matylene was a devoted wife and mother, avid seamstress, cook, and poet. She enjoyed challenging crossword puzzles, creating arts and crafts, playing board games, shopping and watching movies as pastimes. Matylene also enjoyed attending church services and listening to gospel music. She always looked forward to family gatherings, especially during the holidays, where she could put her culinary skills on display. Matylene was a problem solver who enjoyed conversation with her family and was always there to listen for those in need. Truly beautiful, inside and out, she was a spiritual woman who always placed her faith in the Lord. Matylene will be deeply missed by all her family, friends, and those who knew her.
