Mrs. Sarah Jane Walton

December 22, 1942 - October 2, 2020

Mrs. Sarah Jane Moore Walton was born to the late Marie Moore Carmichael on December 22, 1942 in Robeson County. Sarah attended Hilly Branch School and she later received her GED. She worked for Gerber Childrens Wear for five years and Textile Fabrics for nineteen years. Sarah married the late Tom Walton Jr on September 23, 1962 at the age of nineteen. They became the proud parents of two children; Hakim Muhammad and the late Parrish “Rabbit” LaDon Walton; along with Hannah Walton and Landon Walton. Sarah was a member of The New Lightning Temple Church under the leadership of Bishop Johnny and First Lady Susie McLean where she served as the Mother of the church. Mother Walton was a woman of God who prayed from the depths of her soul. Sarah loved God, her children, and her family more than anything in this world. She always made family time a priority. Sarah enjoyed cooking, eating, decorating, telling people what to do while she laid on the couch, going to the beach, shopping, and running the roads. Sarah helped raise some of her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who looked to her as a second mother. Her kind spirit, smile, laugh, and playful nature will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Sarah was proceeded in death by her mother: Marie Moore Carmichael; husband, Tom Walton Jr., son, Parrish “Rabbit” LaDon Walton, three brothers: Ernest Johnson Moore, James Junior Carmichael, and Joe Carmichael. Sarah leaves to cherish her sweet memories two sons: Hakim Muhammad (Belinda) and Landon Walton; two daughters LaToya (Cedric) McLean and Hannah Walton; six sisters: Valerie Moore, Doretha Thompson, Maxine McLean, Lula Mae Davis, Arnetha Davis, and Arjane Clark; her best friend: Lois Carter; grandchildren, great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
