Elder Virginia Lee

On the afternoon of Sunday, November 29, 2020, God called Elder Virginia Lee home to heaven at Duke University Hospital, Durham NC. She was the daughter of the late Joseph McNair and Ruth Moore. Elder Lee was preceded in death by one sister, Ms. Joyce A. Priest, grandmother Mrs. Ressie Wallace, step-great grandmother Mrs. Callie McNair, great grandmother Mrs. Lillie Bell McNair, and great grandfather Mr. Harold Mc Nair. One Uncle Mr. Alfonzo Thompson, two aunts Elder Helen Strickland and Mrs. Lee Esther Brown. She attended Southside High school in Rowland, NC and graduated from Lumberton High School, Lumberton, NC. At Southside she met the love of her life, Bishop Harry Lee, Sr in the 10th grade. He persuaded her to go out with him using Mr. Goodbar’s as a bribe and it worked. They were happily married for fifty plus years. Early on in their marriage, they both gave their life to Christ at Smith Chapel Bible Church of God and continued to follow Jesus. Elder Virginia Lee allowed herself to be used by God as an active choir member and the secretary for the Bible Church of God’s Youth Department. Later in her Christian walk she was called to “preach” and she became an Elder in the Bible Church of God. During her ministry she began to spread the Word of God by volunteering at the local nursing home in Lumberton NC. Elder Virginia Lee was blessed to become the first lady of Faith Chapel, former first lady of Cameron Temple, Jackson Grove of Rennert, Pisgah Top, and her most recent position first lady for the Bible Church of God, Inc. If you had an opportunity to engage with Elder Virginia Lee, then you know she loved everyone and always acknowledged God’s love and mercy. Elder Virginia Lee counseled many, offered support and assistance whenever she could, and again loved people. Don’t mourn her death but celebrate the life she lived and know that she has heard God say, “Well done thy good and faithful servant.” Elder Virginia Lee leaves to cherish her beloved Husband of 50 plus years of Wedding Bliss, Chief Bishop God’s Apostle Harry Lee, two children, Mr. Harry Lee Jr. Asheville, N.C. and Dr. Nancy C. Lee, Durham, N.C. , one grandchild, Christal Terry, two great grandchildren, Jeremy Morris Jr, Noel Morris, Haltom City, Texas, her mother Ms. Ruth Moore, Rowland, N.C., one sister Mrs. Alice Leggett (Willie Leggett), Rowland, N.C., two brothers; Mr. Jeffery Moore, Rowland, N.C., Joseph McNair Jr., Virginia, six aunts; Ms. Sally Wallace , Mrs. Clara Wallace-Douglas(Charles) of New York, New York, Mrs. Dorothy Brown, Rowland, N.C. , Ms. Louise Purcell, Ms. Sally Monroe (Joseph Monroe, Greensboro NC, Ms. Francis Smith, Fayetteville, NC, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins a in laws.
