President & CEO
In 1995, at the age of 21, Mitch Colvin assumed the operational leadership of Colvin Funeral Home, Inc. He still leads the operation of Colvin Funeral Home and Crematory today, helping residents in their time of need. Mr. Colvin learned at an early age that being in business is not easy and over the last 20 years he has worked hard to build a strong, community-oriented business, restore goodwill and address remaining legacy issues. Today his company is a market leader in funeral home service calls. He believes that hard work and commitment in the face of adversity is crucial to survival in business and in life. Mitch Colvin received his Associate of Arts in Funeral Service from John Tyler Mortuary College in Chester, VA. He later earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Fayetteville State University. In November 2017.
Mitch Colvin made history becoming the 2nd African-American Mayor of the City of Fayetteville, NC. Mayor Colvin has represented the City of Fayetteville on the national stage on a number of occasions from meetings at the White House to meetings with national presidential candidates to discuss the importance of Fayetteville, N.C. to the region and the state. Anthony Isaiah Buie
Funeral Director
Anthony (Isaiah) Buie, a Red Springs, NC, native, is a certified funeral director, embalmer, Air Force veteran, clergyman, life insurance agent, and notary public in North Carolina. The summit of his accomplishments is that he is truly a servant of Jesus Christ. Funeral services have piqued his interest since he was ten years old and in the fourth grade. The reason for this youthful obsession was witnessing one of his departed family members' bodily transformation prior to and after the embalming process. This stunning change led him to discover his God-given destiny, and he instantly told his father, "I want to be a mortician when I grow up." On a cloudy day in a hometown cemetery, his father joked with the owner of their neighborhood funeral home that Isaiah was looking for work. His boyhood curiosity turned into a career when the owner grinned and said, "Bring him to work, and I will train him." He began attending funerals and assisting with the services when he was 10 years old. He sought to be familiar with all areas of the business, ranging from removals to preparation, funeralizing, and graveside operations. His devotion was publicized when his fifth-grade science teacher noticed it and assigned him to hold a burial service for the classroom goldfish. He gradually began assisting with removals, and by the age of 16, he had mastered dressing and cosmetology for the departed. Upon his graduation from Red Springs High School in 2017, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, hoping to be assigned to the mortuary affairs division. He worked for his country as a Security Forces officer. After serving in the military, he attended Fayetteville Technical Community College and earned an Associate of Applied Science in Funeral Service Education. After completing his apprenticeship under Henry (Mitch) Colvin, Jr., he received his license as a funeral director and embalmer in North Carolina. He is a minister at St. Joseph Miracle Revival Center in Red Springs. In addition to serving families, he enjoys spreading the gospel, playing sports, cooking, and, most importantly, spending time with his wife, daughter, and other family members. Isaiah believes that the funeral business was not an option for him, but that God picked him to carry out this solemn job. He believes that God has anointed him for the ministry of service to all people, regardless of race, gender, or socioeconomic background. His favorite Scripture, Romans 8:28, states, “And we know that all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord, who are called according to his purpose.”
