Mr. Raymond Eugene Wright

Raymond Eugene Wright, 72, of 665 Monagan Street in Fayetteville, North Carolina, transitioned from Earth to Glory on June 29, 2023 from Stage 4 Intestinal Cancer. He is now reunited with both his mother Etta Mae Tartt-Wright and father Robert Wright in that Eternal Kingdom. He is survived by his three sons General Ferguson, Styllez Wright Ferguson, and Zzeundre “Puppy” Jacobs, Daughter-in-Law Lydria Jacobs, his three grandchildren Amari, Zevin, and Jaliah, his siblings Roberta “Butch” Wright, Ronald Ray Wright, Marrion “Black” O’Neal, and Billy Gene. He is predeceased by his siblings Inez, Etta “Lil Girly” Bell, Robert “Bobby” Jr., Alfred “Buster” Dennis, Rhoda Fay (Ronald Ray’s Twin), and Carrie. Raymond, whom friends and family nicknamed “Dawg” early in his life, attended Peabody Magnet High School in Alexandria, Louisiana and continued his education at Fayetteville Technical Community College to obtain Microcomputer Rep Certification. Raymond lived the better part of his life serving The Most High. After years of vocational training, he ultimately earned his diploma from Cliffdale Christian Center to become a Certified Minister on December 15, 2002. This Certification was succeeded by his Universal Life Church Certification which he was formally ordained to the Monastery on February 11, 2013. He had quite the gospel voice to boot, with copyrighted studio recordings such as “I’m Not Using Your Name In Vain (Lord),” “Me And All God’s Children,” and “My Savior Loves Me” which were all inspired by his Spiritual Rhymes For Spiritual Times book, published in 2000 (ISBN-10: 074140530X). Aside from that, he was known as a great poet, winning the Golden Poet Award 5 consecutive years (1987-1991). He worked for the Department of Social Services from which he retired in 2001. Though he had no Military history, his son General is on the brink of becoming a U.S. Airman, making him first generation. Dawg’s legacy lives on, as he was truly someone who left his mark on society. Viewing will be held at Colvin Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The address is 2010 Murchison Road, Fayetteville, North Carolina 28301 (Across the street from Crown Fried Chicken).
