Ms. Alvine Melvin

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this? John 11:25-26 Miss Alvine Melvin was born to the late Cuffie J. and Gertrude Avery Melvin on February 11, 1950 in Cumberland County, Fayetteville, North Carolina. Bunny, as she was affectionately known, answered the Master's call and departed this life on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Alvine accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Greater First Baptist Church in Cedar Creek. God had a special mission for her life at age 4. He saved her life after a terrible car accident which left her disabled; however, her disability did not stop her from living life as her life has been a blessing to everyone. Her bright beautiful smile, her witty personality, and her ability to make you feel so welcomed was the blessing she provided to all who met her in this life. Alvine did not let her disability hinder her as she was a great cook, kept her home spotless until her health required her to move in with her sister, Shirley Dumas. Alvine and Shirley had some good times taking care of one another. Alvine loved to praise the Lord and to tell others about the goodness of God. Alvine loved attending the Center for the Blind, meeting new friends, enjoying the activities, and shopping outings with the ladies. Alvine is preceded in death by her parents, Cuffie J. Melvin and Gertrude Avery Melvin; five siblings, Foster S. Melvin, Jerry B. Melvin, Harold Lee Melvin, Claxton Melvin and Carolyn Regina Melvin. Left to mourn her loss is her sisters, Shirley Melvin Dumas and Eunice Melvin both of Fayetteville, NC; eleven nieces and nephews, Foster S. Melvin (child: Ivy Dowe), Jerry B. Melvin (children: Anna Melvin, Jerry Melvin and Robert Melvin), Shirely M. Dumas (Children: Betty Dumas-Beasley, Terry Evans and Pastor Cynthia Damas Cook), Harold Lee Melvin (children: Alisha Melvin and Camel Melvin, Claxton (Bobo) Melvin (children: Alicia Stocks-Sanders and Mohammed Melvin); and a host of great nieces/nephews and cousins who truly cherished her during her life.
