Mr. Bill Smith Jr.

Bill Smith Jr., was born on October 20, 1955 to the late Bill Smith Sr. and Ada B. King Smith. He was the only son of 4 children. Bill was educated in the Public Schools of Robeson County. He later joined the US Marine Corps where he served for 6 years. Along with his family, Bill attended St. Mary Holiness Church. Bill Smith Jr. was an avid chef and fisherman, who enjoyed coaching the little LFA football teams. Affectionately called "Mr. Bill" by many of the young mean that he had the privilege of coaching over the years, found joy on the sidelines watching his boys play. You could find Bill on the sidelines at many Lumberton Sr. High games, as he followed his young men to high school and beyond. He was employed by the Pepsi-Cola Plant, Huddle House and Cracker Barrell. He proudly spoke of his last place of employment before his health began to fail. he truly enjoyed engaging with shoppers at Publix in Georgia and would smile as he would say, "I made a whole lot of money there". We will definitely miss our comical moments with our loved one. Bill Smith Jr., a die hard Washington Commanders fan, transitioned peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 18th, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Bill Smith Sr. and Ada B. Smith, his sister and best friend Bonnie Smith, his daughter-in-law Tammy Thompson, grandson Adrain Rogers Smith. He is survived by his children Bill Thompson (Janice) of Savannah, Georgia, Delia Jenkins (Raymond) of Fayetteville, NC, Keyshorn Smith (Dee Dee) of Morrisville, NC, Latoya Freeman, Onedrea Smith and Taneshia Burden (Leon) all of Lumberton, NC; twenty-two Grandchildren: Brandon, Breya, Cherronda, Alshawn, DJ, Tydrick, Cedrick, Tasya, Shay, Boo Boo, Lil Key, Lexi, 3J, Diamond, Ced, Kiyah, Zymere, Trey, Lee Lee, Khelis, Dorian, and Khloe; nineteen great-grandchildren: Khamari, Kenary, Rheya, TaMia, Cha'Nya, Ty Zaire, Bri-Bri, James, CK, Gabby, CJ, AJ, TyDrick Jr., JJ, Kaison, Legynd, Jha:Xorri, ZaCarri, and Raelyn; two sisters: Sandra Davis (Micheal) and Margaret Arnette (Quincy); 6 nieces and nephews, Pete, Quincy, Nunkie, Melissa "Chicken", Carlos, Mike Mike; 15 great nieces and nephews; one aunt Ms. Margaret Smith; three special friends, Wayne Griffin, Paul Robinson and Mr. Vincent; a special cousin who was there every time he called, James Jr.; and a host of special cousins, family and dear friends.
