Ms. Hattie Bell Fowler

A Time to be Born Mrs. Hattie M. Fowler was born to Mr. Henry Mace and Mrs. Hattie Mace on March 5, 1935, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. A Time to Rest Mrs. Hattie closed the final chapter of her earthly life on September 30, 2025, in the comfort of her home, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Henry Mace and Mrs. Hattie Mace; her siters, Alice Mace, Pearl Johnson, Lottie Jordan; her brothers, Robert Mace, Alonzo Mace, John Henry Mace (Teeboo), William Mace (Buster), James Mace (Sonny Boy); her daughter, Sheila Dianne Peele; and her husband, Luvie Fowler. A Time to Learn, Work and Serve Mrs. Hattie was affectionately known as “Tootie,” by her family and friends. She attended E. E. Smith Sr. High School in Cumberland County. And she achieved her GED from Fayetteville Technical College. Working was a labor of necessity and love. Indelible are the memories of her, rain or shine, sleet or snow, on foot or bus or later by car, going to work as a domestic servant in homes and hotels; as a machine operator at Holt Williamson Cotton Mill on Russel St.; and in various capacities at Roman Hass and Purolator Industries. Mrs. Hattie served her children, lovingly providing their every need. She served foster children for more than twenty years, by opening both her heart and home. And, as a life-long member of Friendship Baptist Church, she served the sick and shut-in, on various committees and in various roles, such as the usher board, gospel choir, Missionary Department, and president of the Floral Ministry. Mrs. Hattie’s greatest service was to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, by lifting His name and prayer - unceasingly. A Time to Remember Left to enjoy precious memories are: her children, Larry Mace of Orlando, Florida; Haywood Peele of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Thomasina and Kathy Jackson of Fayetteville, North Carolina; William Peele of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and Peggy and Charles Garcia of Concord, North Carolina; her sister, Elizebeth Gant (Libby Ann) of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
