Mrs. Jacquelyn Dorothy Lee

Mrs. Jacquelyn Dorothy Miller Lee was born June 5, 1952, to the parents of Mr. Donald (deceased) and Helen Miller. Jackie was married to Mr. Lonnie F. Lee, Jr. for 39 years. She was with us for 73 years. Jackie attended school in New Jersey and Texas before moving to Woodbridge, Virginia. She was a 1970 graduate of Woodbridge Senior High School. She attended Virginia State College, graduating in May 1974 with a B. S. Degree in Elementary Education. She received her Masters in Special Education from George Mason University in the early 1980s. She worked for the Cumberland County School System. Jackie started working at Pine Forest Middle School, Reid Ross Middle School, Luther “Nick” Jeralds Middle School and retired after 41 years of service to the school system. Jackie love working with her exceptional students. She knew how to work with the students. Many students would see her out in the community, and she was readily recognized. She was a teacher that was kind and caring to all students that she met. The faculty and staff was always greeted with a smile and joyful greeting. Jacquelyn loved the Lord. She knew that the Lord was her protector. She learned to put her trust in the Lord daily. Jackie was a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She loved helping others when possible. She served on the Loaves of Fishes Mission Team. One of her favorite scriptures was, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthen me (Philippians 4:13).”Jackie was an excellent wife to Lonnie, mother and grandmother. She often talked about her mother, sisters, and brother. She would get excited when it was time for a visit with their families. Jackie was kindhearted, loving, funny, a lady who loved her family and Lonnie’s family with all her heart. She leaves to cherish her memories: a loving husband, Lonnie F. Lee, Jr; son, Dr. James L. Lee; mother, Helen Miller; siblings, Cynthia Byrd (Larry), Gina Miller, Michele Lewis, and Gerald Miller (Dena); brother-in-law, Lawrence Lee; sisters-in-law, Michele Lee-Harris (Pastor John) and Dr. Robin Lee-Myricks (Anthony); grandchildren, Jasmyne I. Lee and Jordan R. Lee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
