Ms. Janie Moody

Ms. Janie Moody was born to Henry Moody and Bessie Atkinson Moody on December 1, 1927 in Milan, Tennessee. In the early years of her life, she was tasked with helping to take care of her siblings, as she was one of thirteen children. It was at a young age in childhood, she would learn the importance of hard work and taking care of family. Janie took a big interest in cooking delicious meals for the family. She was very good at it, and in adulthood, went on to work in the hospitality and service industry for nearly six decades. She retired as the Head Cook at Four Flames Restaurant, where she helped to ensure delicious meals were prepared for many people in the city of Fayetteville. She was a dedicated employee there for over thirty years, prior to her retirement. Our dear Aunt Janie had a heart of gold and would help anyone. If you needed a hot meal or even a place to lay your head, she wouldn't turn you away. She offered her help, even if it meant she was giving away her last. Though she didn't have any children of her own, she was the matriarch of the family. She set an example of hard work, love, kindness, and compassion for others. Her heart was always filled with the love of God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. She became a member of Country Club Drive Church of Christ and was an active member before her physical health declined. She lived a beautiful life, as 97 years was such blessing. She departed this earthly life on December 3, 2024, in the comfort of her home. Janie is preceded in death by both parents, Henry and Bessie Moody and all of her twelve siblings. Her memories are engraved in the hearts of her nieces: Mary Jane Moody Burgess and Teresa Davis, both of Fayetteville, NC; Mary Alice Sutton of Lumberton, NC and nephew, Allen Moody of Fayetteville, NC; great-nieces: Narshira Vann (Daniel) of Goldsboro, NC, Mineska Moody of Fayetteville, NC, Tunua Paige of Lumberton, NC and Alicia Carney of Seattle, WA; great-nephews: Ka’Hansi Moody of Raleigh, NC, William Najee McNeill of Fayetteville, NC, Anthony (Letonja) Sutton of Covington, Georgia, Curtis Paige of Lumberton, NC and Robert Elliott Jr of Seattle, WA. She has a host of second-generation nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends that will miss her dearly.
