Colvin Funeral Home & Crematory...announces this earthly transition of Ms. Linda L. Martin of Warrenton, NC, who departed this life on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the age of 72. Obituary Ms. Linda Lenora Martin, 72, formerly of Warrenton, North Carolina, transitioned from this life on April 5, 2026, at her daughter’s home, 628 Welsh Place, Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was born on February 4, 1954, in Geary, Kansas, to the late Alexander Porter Sr. and Beulah Mae Brown Porter Johnson. Linda was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Willie and Moela Martin; her sister, Beulah Ann; her brother, Robert Lewis; her aunts, Gloria Jean Patton, Francina King, and Sara Scipio; and her uncles, Frank “Buck” Brown, David Lee Brown, Joe Lewis Brown, and Robert Earl Brown. Linda was raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, and attended Jersey City Public Schools, where she graduated from Snyder High School, Class of 1972. She was employed by the New Jersey Board of Education at School PS 41. By the age of 35, she had reconnected with her birth mother, moved to North Carolina with her brother, and made North Carolina her permanent home. She renewed her faith, accepted Christ as her Savior, and always kept God first in her life. Linda’s personality was described as friendly and “very spicy.” She never met a stranger and loved to talk. She was a free spirit who never let any grass grow under her feet. If there was a yard sale, she was there. She had a talent for making something old look new, which became one of her favorite hobbies. Linda leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Kenneth J. Martin (Emma) of Jersey City, New Jersey, and Kedward H. Ringer (Yumiko) of Tokyo, Japan; one daughter, Kyesh Vega (Gilbert) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, with whom she resided during her illness; one brother, Alexander Porter Jr. (Jean) of Selma, North Carolina; three aunts, Pearline Genright, Martha Willis of Naugatuck, Connecticut, and Carolyn Smith of Jersey City, New Jersey, who was like a sister to her; seven grandchildren, Asia, Quron, Naziah, Aniyah, Kameron, and Ibn, all of Jersey City, New Jersey, and Jasmine and Maigan of Wendell, North Carolina; nine bonus grandchildren, Dominic, Darius, Briana, Chasity, Tyanna, Jasmine Bell, Anthony, Anyiah Bethea, and Nathaniel; and ten great-grandchildren. Linda will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A viewing will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Colvin Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at Colvin Funeral Home. Family members are asked to line up at the home of her daughter no later than 1:00 PM.
