Mrs. Louise Blackmon

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith (Timothy 4:7)” Mother Louise Melton Blackmon 87, of Lumberton, NC departed this life on March 27, 2024, at her home in Lumberton, NC, She attended Proctorville High School. At the age of 17, she united in marriage to John David Blackmon on October 4, 1953 for 70 years. She was first employed by Lumbee Manufacturing Company. She worked as a pressor. She worked several manufacturing jobs before working at Graphic Packaging for 27 years. Mother Louise Melton Blackmon joined Smith Chapel Bible Church of God in 1962 and worked faithfully in the church. She visited elderly church members providing food, cleaning homes and caring for the sick. Mother Louise Melton Blackmon was preceded in death by her parents, James Clio Melton and Winnie Cash Melton, sisters, Winnie Rose Melton, Clara Mae Waddell, Linda Faye Thompson, Cora Lee Ford, Irene Thompson, and brother, Clarence Edward Melton. Mother Louise leaves behind to cherish her fond memories her husband John David Blackmon of 70 years; her son David Earl Blackmon(Evelyn-deceased); daughter Pastor Kenner Marie Jessup(Stanley); son Tony Lamont Blackmon(Courtney) all of Lumberton, NC; son Shawn Keith Blackmon(Katie) of Gastonia, NC; Ten grandchildren: Kimberly Natasha McIver; Henry Javon Blackmon, Stanley Termaine Jessup, Brandon Lamont Blackmon, Brooke Makayla Blackmon, Jordan Lamont Blackmon, Lily Mary-Helen Blackmon of Lumberton, NC; Kendra Louise Jessup of Fayetteville, NC; Marley Grace Blackmon, Zoey Kate Blackmon of Gastonia. Three great-grandchildren: Aaron Lavon Blackmon of Bladenboro, NC; Blake Alexander Blackmon of Lumberton, NC; Makenzie Loraine Rogers of Rowland, NC; Four great great-grandchildren, Krystina Vaugh, Jayden Graham, Kaliyah Lynette Blackmon, Isaiah Stanley Blackmon of Lumberton. Five sisters: Everlean Graham; Christine McCollum, Mary Winston; Margie Bullock; Sandra Jackson(George); Two brothers; James Arthur Melton; Thomas Anthony Melton(Triesta); Private-duty worker, Thelma Stewart; Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Relatives and friends.
