Mrs. Melody Tammy Welch

Melody Tammy Welch was born February 22, 1962, in Fayetteville, North Carolina to the late Raymond and Thelma Davis Williams. She laid down her earthly remains and was called home on Thursday, December 14th, 2023, to be with the Lord. Melody joined First Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend C. R. Edwards. Throughout her world travels she remained a member in good standing with her home church. She was educated in the Cumberland County school system in Fayetteville, North Carolina. After graduation, she met and married the love of her life, her loving husband and life partner Robert Welch. They were happily married for 39 years. Melody loved being a military wife and mom to their two daughters Octavia and Marisa. Her main ambition and goal were to ensure they both received their undergraduate degrees from her hometown college, Fayetteville State University. Throughout her husband's military career, they traveled extensively to various military stations within the United States and abroad. Melody loved creating worldwide memories with her family and developed the skill of culinary arts. She loved experimenting with various recipes and loved the critiques and acceptance of her satisfied food recipients.She loved working with the nutrition of young children and aimed never to see a child hungry. Her motto was, "if food is prepared with love, it will be delicious". Her recipients were always satisfied. Melody was very compassionate about the welfare of everyone that she knew. Melody is survived by her loving husband Robert, her daughters Octavia (Tyron) James, EL Paso, TX and Marisa Welch, Fayetteville, NC, her three grandchildren Kyrie, Faith, and Osiephine, plus her adorable dogs Max and Honey. She is also survived by her sisters Shirley Paige, Washington, DC, Helen Carr, West Haven, Conn. Georgianna Williams, Janice (John) Bethea, and Linda Whitted all of Fayetteville, NC. Judith (James) Holland, Chesterfield County, VA. Trianna (Robert) Kirkland, Hampsted, NC., and Vanessa (Stacy) Price. Durham, NC. Countless nieces, nephews, family members, and loyal friends. She is preceded in death by her siblings Leighton (Billy) Davis, Retha Fields, Raymond (Chink) Williams Jr, Clark Williams, and Catherine Affronti. As a caring mother and dedicated member of the Greeter Ministry here at First Baptist Church, Melody always went out of her way to serve the needs of others. She loved gardening, cooking, and fellowshipping with her sisters. Most of all Melody loved Jesus Christ and believed in His Death Burial, and Resurrection. Melody was the lifeblood of the Welch family and she will be greatly loved and missed.
