Mrs. Neacie Lee Boykin

Mrs. Neacie Lee Holmes Boykin, transitioned from labor to reward, peacefully at Southeastern Hospice House, on June 10, 2020. Neacie is the daughter of the late Roy and Juanita Holmes of Harrells, NC. She is preceded in death by her only daughter and joy of her life, Dacia Newkirk Stephenson. Neacie was united in marriage to the love of her life, James Boykin on June 22, 1985. Neacie enjoyed school days at Union High School, Clinton, NC. She received her Bachelors of English from Shaw University and her Masters of Education from University of Phoenix. At an early age, she joined Royal Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Ivanhoe, NC. Later she joined Sandy Grove Baptist Church of Lumberton, under the leadership of Rev. Sidney A. Locks. Later, she worshiped with her beloved pastor, Rev.T. Shedrick Byrd. She was employed as an educator at James Sprunt Community College in Kennersville, NC. When she relocated to Robeson County, she became employed by the Public Schools of Robeson County for over 30 years. During this time, she also taught at Robeson County Correctional Center and Adult High School at Robeson Community College for over 12 years. Neacie was a part of several organizations such as the National Retired Teachers Association in which she served as Treasurer. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Friendship Chapter #558 and Daughters of Isis. However, her heart went to the beloved Lambda Eta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. in which she pledged June 29th, 1988. She served as the President, Secretary, Treasurer and Chair of numerous committees and also attended Boule’ several times. She was very active in church and served in various roles to include, Adult Missionary President, Young Adult Missionary Advisor, Youth Advisor, Gospel Choir, Mass Choir, Women of Devotion, Women’s Ministry, Vacation Bible School, Black History Committee, Homecoming Committee and Church Clerk for over 20 years. She made sure the youth of the church went to the Women’s Baptist Home and Foreign Missionary Convention of NC every year in which she was a chaperone. Even if it meant that she had to get around in her “Jazzy” scooter! Neacie was a strong supporter of the youth, not only in the church and in the community but also internationally. She made sure children everywhere had school supplies, clothes, food, money, and any other resources they needed. She loved to support scholarships and back to school events and was willing to do anything to uplift the children. “Nana”, as she was affectionately known by her granddaughter, Dominique and others that she loved, was an avid traveler of the world! She loved cruises and flying. She has magnets on her refrigerator to show the places she visited: Aruba,Toronto, Jamaica, Mexico, Barbados, Hawaii, Cayman Island and from California to Tennessee to Florida to New York, to Texas to Vegas and to the Windy City of Chicago, just to name a few. Along with her traveling partners, Mrs. Ima Oxendine and Ms.Vickie Grooms, she really enjoyed life! She even planned on going to Paris, this year, with them, along with Mrs. Joyce Jones. She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and devoted husband, James (JB) Boykin. Daughters: Marguerita Bennett of Clinton, NC and Angela Lane of Garner, NC. Son, Anthony Boykin of Charlotte, NC. grandchildren: Dominique, Quia, Ray, Mercedes, Rashad and Ty-Marion. grandchildren by love: Keira, Tyron, Antenecia, Tyson, Jacobie, Jakiyah, Zakiyah, and Armani, six sisters: Carolyn Pope of Clinton, NC, Ethel (Willie) Jenkins of PA, Carrie Crawford of MD, Clementine (Pat) Smith of Lillington, NC, Renita Pierce of PA, Charlene Danzler of Harrells, three brothers: Linwood (Edwina) Pollard of PA, Matthew Holmes of the home, Roy (Valerie) Holmes, Jr. of Turkey, NC, aunts: Dorothy Holmes of Ivanhoe, NC, Lucille Holmes of Harrels, NC, Mary Sellars of Harrells, NC, Margie Davis of Greenville, SC. and Winnie (Roy) Moore, Bladenboro, NC, Uncle Thurman Pridgen of Greenville, SC and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
