Mr. Patrick Kelly

A beloved husband, father, brother, son and Pastor Patrick Mario Kelly, 59, passed away on July 6th 2024. A giant of a man, not only in stature but also in the several hats that he wore and the immense impact that he made on the lives of everyone he met. Well-loved, admired and respected. Patrick was born on December 19th, 1964 to Mary Ann Kelly and the late Ernest Kelly Jr, in Bladen County Hospital. Growing up, Patrick had an interest in karate and music, and even joined a band. After Patrick graduated from E.E Smith High School he attended Fayetteville State University to major in English. After college, he left his hometown to work at his first job at IBM in the big apple! In 1993 he met his wife, Wilma and they migrated to Trinidad and answering the call of God they were ordained Ministers of the Gospel and started the ministry ‘The Way of Holiness’ four years later. Patrick met Wilma in Raeford, North Carolina. Wilma, at the time a missionary from Trinidad, invited Patrick to a church that she was to minister at. He came and received Christ that day. Three weeks after that he told her, “God showed me my wife” – a month and a half later, they were married. Patrick and Wilma went on to have two children, Joshua and Tinica. Patrick was full of knowledge and wisdom that was amazing to see in operation. He loved learning. He educated himself in order to teach others whether it be history, advice, or through the word of God. He loved gospel music, singing, and cooking a good barbeque – he was a wonderful cook. Patrick was a fighter, he knew there was greatness inside him and strived to achieve that greatness and share it with others. During his time in ministry, he was known as a great teacher. He taught Ministry Training School and produced several recordings with deliverance prayers that are still used today. Patrick was also an adventurer and travelled as far as Africa to minister the gospel. Along with his wife, in 1997 they started ministry as Prisons Chaplains in all the prisons in Trinidad, ministering to inmates, officers and the administration staff. That same year they also incorporated The Restoration Centre to house and rehabilitate ex-prisoners, drug addicts and persons coming out the court system. Using “unconventional and unique methods”, during their time in ministry they saw many lives, too numerous to count be transformed and delivered by the power of Almighty God. He is survived by his mother Mary Ann Kelly, his wife Wilma Kelly H.B.M. of Trinidad, his children Joshua Kelly of Trinidad and Tinica Dougan (Gerard) of Trinidad, his siblings Veronica Brown (Timothy) of Bowie MD, Ernest Kelly (Fondella) of Willow Springs NC, and Maurice Kelly (Terry), of Charlotte NC, and his grandchildren Precious Ackee, Destiny Dougan, Jeremy Dougan, and, Jalen Kelly. Pastor Patrick Kelly will be greatly missed by all. We love you.
