Mr. Ralph Thomas Fassett

Ralph Thomas FASSETT was born July 24, 1941. He departed this life on January 10, 2023 at 12:01 pm. Ralph Thomas Fassett also known to his family and friends as “ Ralpie” was born to his late parents, Ralph Nathaniel Fassett and Edna Grooms. He was born in Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx, New York, and he was the oldest of two sons in a family of four. . Ralph started his education in the New York Public School System. He attended Samuel Gompers High School, and focused on his arts. He transferred to Evander Child’s High School where he concentrated on engineering earning college credits and graduating with a Regents Honors Diploma. Ralph started his career as a graphic artist. He worked for PBS channel 13, and was on the ground breaking team to start the show Sesame Street. He also continued his education throughout his career. Ralph married Patricia Thompson in 1960 and through this union they had four children: Ralph, Susan, Stephanie and Eric. He was very involved in his children’s life and loved volunteering for the Cub Scouts teaching them arts. Ralph was definitely known as the dancer. Most would say, they would have to move the furniture from the room and clear the floor so he could do his moves. He had a major love for music. He always had the best stereo equipment (don’t touch my system) that he would Blast through the roof. Motown was a love of his. He loved music so much, he took a second job in a music/record store. He had every album imageable (needless to say he came home without a paycheck). He was a forever die hard NY Giants fan and would talk his stuff and a longtime NY Mets fan like his dad and son, Randy. He later met and married, Marilyn Wade and through this union, they had two children, Alexander and Franklin. He loved and doted on all of his children. He would sing his song to Alexandra, “let me be your sweetheart” which she loved. Ralph relocated to Kinston, NC and later to Fayetteville, NC where he enjoyed spending time with his family and a wide host of friends and staff at his senior community center. Until today, every person would tell me how caring, giving, and positive he was about life. One nurse said, “your dad gives until it hurts”. He leaves to mourn: his children, Ralph Randolph Fassett (Denetta Fassett), Susan Denise Fassett, Stephanie Joy Fassett-Hardy (Benny L Hardy), Eric Nathaniel Fassett, Alexander Chanay Fassett and Franklin Rahsaan Fassett; brother, Bradley Fassett (Lorraine Fassett); sister-in-law, Joan Diaz; brother-in-law, Fredrick Thompson (Cee Thompson); grandchildren, Tyree Shinette, Margaret Brittany Davenport, Isaiah Darren Fassett, Destiny Baker, Chantal Baker, Ronald Baker, Jr., Jabari Fassett, Jeremiah Fassett, Alicia Fassett, Cameron Fassett, Chelsea Fassett, Elora Fassett, Mari Fassett, Amir Morrison and Messiah Morrison: great grandchildren, Kionni Fassett, Layla Fassett, Kali Olivarria and Winter Fassett; and host of nieces, nephews and friends,
