Ms. Thelma Lindsey Hepburn

Thelma Lindsey Hepburn entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Thelma was born on December 1, 1957 in Bennettsville, South Carolina to the late Guster Bell Hepburn who moved her family to North Carolina to seek a better life. Thelma is the oldest of seven children and was respectfully thought of as “momma”. She was a faithful member of New Genesis Fresh Start Ministries where she served on the Kitchen Ministry and waited on anyone who desired her assistance. Thelma was the Vice President of the Usher Board and greeted everyone with her beautiful, full of joy smile. When you left her presence, she would always say “I love you”. She loved her pastor dearly, and would tell everyone that Dr. Calvin L. Brewington, Sr., was “her pastor”. She was a true woman of God, and her loving spirit was infectious. Thelma worked for Glad Haven Nursing Home, Fayetteville, North Carolina in the Environmental Services Department for 29 years prior to joining the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Environmental Services team. After 17 years of service, she retired from Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. During her tenure at Cape Fear Valley, she was awarded the certificate of IMPACT for her outstanding performance and dedication. She was also featured in the Fayetteville Observer for her hard work, dedication, and positive attitude. Thelma attended Cumberland County Schools. She enjoyed listening to her audio bible, sitting and relaxing on her porch, and most of all, spending time with her family, both near and far. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gus Hepburn. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Ronald B. Hepburn of Fayetteville, North Carolina; her sisters, Evette Hepburn of Bennettsville, South Carolina, Elaine Hatfield, Stephanie Speaks, and Tyra Rhodes all Of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Caroline Hepburn of Charlotte, North Carolina; Tawanna Jennings (Mathes) of Killeen, Texas; Yolanda Locklear (Dion) of Chicago, Illinois. Her brothers, Michael Hepburn (Cynthia) and Harrison Baldwin of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Kenneth Hepburn (Rita) of Elizabethtown, North Carolina. One aunt, Mary Brown; special friends, Barbara and Rodney Dolson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
