    Mr Jerome Adams

    September 6, 1952 - May 12, 2022

    Mr. Jerome “Judie” Adams, sixty-nine years old, was born September 6, 1952 in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. He departed this life on May 12, 2022, at Cape Fear Valley Hospital. He attended Cumberland County Public Schools. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Army. During his time in the Army, he was ranked as Army Veteran Private First Class. While in the military as PFC, he earned a National Defense Service Medal. He was dedicated to his daily duties of taking care of the maintenance of military vehicles. After the military, Mr. Adams served the community by being “THE BEST” mechanic on the North, South, East, and West side of Fayetteville as well as in Philadelphia. Jerome was affectionately known as Papa, “Old man”, and Pops to many. He was the community Grandpa. When acknowledged by these names, he would often reply “you got it young buck.” He was preceded in death by his parents, James Henry Adams, Sr. and Lucy Gardner Adams; his brothers: Merritt Adams, Felix Adams, James Adams, Jr. and Willie P. Adams. Jerome leaves to cherish his loving memory to his six children: Windell Adams (Nostacia) of Atlanta, GA,Tonya Dyer (Ronnie) of Memphis, TN, Juanda Carter of Eastover, NC,Gloria McLaughlin (Travis Sr.) of Fayetteville, NC, Jessica Adams of Fayetteville, NC, and Jerome Adams II of Fayetteville, NC; five sisters: Frances McKeithan (Richard) of Dublin, NC, Henrietta Prewitt (Pastor R. Prewitt) of Fayetteville, NC, Barbara McMillan (Rev. O. McMillan) of Spring Lake, NC, Ella Carter of Wade, NC, Lucy Jackson (Elder R. Jackson) of Honolulu, HI; two brothers: Tommy Adams (Yvonne) of Covington, GA, and Philip Adams (Ophelia) of Covington GA; nine grandchildren: Tra’Niqua, Cortney, CJ, Cortazz, Leviticus, Travis Jr., Demetrius, Simone, and Callie; two great-grandchildren, Cortazz Jr. and Mila. He was preceded in death by two grandsons;Karon and Travis III. Jerome also leaves behind his significant other of thirteen years, Ms. Barbara Toy, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
