Tanajwa Ayesha McMurray, age 31, life was taken from her on October 11th, 2021 in her home in Fayetteville, NC. Tanajwa was a 911 dispatcher for the community who had just recently moved back to Fayetteville to be closer to family a little over a year ago. Tanajwa was born September 20th, 1990 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to parents Tasha McMurray and Corey McMurray. When she was 5, the family moved to Germany where they stayed for 3 years. Their next move as a family was Fayetteville, NC. Tanajwa graduated from Westover High School, and then later attended Elizabeth City State University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. While in college she was a part of a sorority the Omega Essence which she was completely dedicated. She truly enjoyed being an Omega Essence. Once she graduated, she became a correctional officer where she worked for over 4 years. She ultimately became a sergeant after all her hard work and commitment. She eventually decided to move back to Fayetteville to be closer to family and started a new job as a 911 dispatcher for Cumberland County. Tanajwa leaves behind her daughter Ay’rah Roberson. Her parents Tasha McMurray and Corey McMurray (Shondra McMurray). Her siblings Calisha McMurray, Jacole McMurray, T’yanna McMurray, Cori McMurray. Her godsister Jayla Hamilton. One of her first cousins Akribah Cook. Her nephews Jah’air Maynor and Kha’zah McMurray. Her niece D’Yani Warren. Her aunts Lakia Wilson, Valerie Barrett, Takeya Barrett, and Shavonna McMurray. Her uncles Leonard McMurray, Hassan Cook, and Antoine Williams. She also leaves behind a large family and plenty of friends who all loved her dearly. Tanajwa was a very happy person who was always the life of the party. She was very intelligent and artistic. She always excelled in school and learned how to draw from her father. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She spent a lot of time in front of the camera and was very photogenic. Tanajwa was very social, and people loved being around her. She loved her niece and nephews with a passion, and they often brightened up her day. Most importantly, she loved being a mother. Nothing meant more to her than her daughter. She will truly be missed and we hope peace has found her.
